Illegal Gas Installations

It's very simple, in order to work on a gas supply one must be Competent. This means that the operative must hold the ACS qualification and he/she must work under someone else's Gas Safe Registration, or be Gas Safe Registered themselves in order to sign for their work after it is completed. If an accident arises through using illegal gas installers, then it is more than likely that your house insurance will not pay out not to mention potentially killing someone.

As a rule, we don't sign off work we haven't done and we don’t do gas work illegally. We notify any new appliances that we have installed to Gas Safe, so as to provide the homeowner with a certificate of competence. This tells you that the installation has been carried out according to building regulations. This can then be presented to a purchaser when moving house to highlight that the gas appliances have been installed correctly. Without it, well who knows?
